Participation: Rotary Clubs from throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin may sponsor students to attend Camp RYLA. We hope for two students per Rotary Club. The ideal candidate is a high school sophomore or junior who has demonstrated leadership potential. Though we target sophomores and juniors, we will accept seniors and mature freshmen. Preference will be made for Clubs that sponsor both a male and female student.
Involvement Needed from Your Club:
January:
- Make a commitment to participate!
- Appoint a Club RYLA Chair.
- Register at campryla.org with your Club contact and number of students you are sponsoring.
February:
- Contact staff of youth-serving organizations, including high school counselor(s) and principal(s), and provide to them the Camp RYLA flier with your Club info added [embedded PDF].
- Make sure that prospective students contact your club and get approval prior to submitting their registration. This ensures your Club is not responsible for more students than you sponsored! Add the approved students name to your Club registration at www.campryla.org
March:
- Monitor applications by students and consider alternates in case the primaries are unable to attend.
April
- Reconfirm attendance with your student. Arrange transportation – students are not allowed to drive their own cars to Camp St. Croix! Clubs must ensure transportation (club member or students’ families) from home to Camp St. Croix on April 25, arriving between 4:30 – 6 p.m. (unless otherwise arranged), and from the St. Paul Intercontinental Hotel on April 29 promptly at 1:30 p.m.
